Saudi Arabia: The Lynx Has Been Saved!!

On 16 November American Bedu received a request to help spread the word of a beautiful Lynx being held captive at a Riyadh pet store.  The Lynx was not being properly fed, groomed or taken care of in any way.  The following provides a very positive update on the present status of the Lynx.  This also illustrates the power of public action campaigns.

To everyone who supported the ‘Free the Lynx at Joon Pet Shop’ Campaign:

We have fantastic news: the pet shop owner has voluntarily handed over the Lynx to Riyadh Zoo!!

Through our campaign and the use of online forums, the petition, Facebook and email

we, in a matter of a few weeks, through online forums, the petition, facebook and email, we got people all over Saudi Arabia (and the world, if you look at the 888 petition signatures) thinking and talking about animal welfare and the plight of the Lynxgot people all over Saudi Arabia (and the world, if you look at the 888 petition signatures) thinking and talking about animal welfare and the plight of the Lynx.
The lynx is currently under quarantine at the zoo but we are advised that he is eating well and settling in. He has been treated for parasites and, once he has completely recovered, he will be transferred to a better facility within the zoo.  Of course we will be keeping a close eye on his progress, so those of you who are interested in updates should check the Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=165592253458342
Sadly there are still many animals in Riyadh who need our help.  Please visit the group for details of forthcoming new campaigns!  Together we have shown that we CAN make a difference, one animal at a time.

Thanks again to everyone who showed their support,

Helen Sayde
