Saudi Arabia: Melting Pot Restaurant

Melting Pot is coming to Saudi Arabia!  The first Melting Pot is expected to open up in Riyadh in early 2012.  The Melting Pot was always a favorite restaurant for Abdullah and I.  We had many a wonderful adventure at Melting Pot.  I say adventure because at the Melting Pot with the exception of the salad, the entire meal is fondue style where patrons “cook” their own.

Abdullah enjoyed the Melting Pot as it was like nothing he had ever experienced.  The Melting Pot offered a wide choice of fondue sauces and all were so richly abundant in taste.  Dessert was also served fondue style with an array of chocolate sauces to choose from. This link gives an indication of the multiple menu choices.

Abdullah liked the Melting Pot so much that when my son turned 30 years old he arranged a surprise birthday party for him there.  It was a lot of fun.  We had a group of about 10 and here we all were sharing the same fondue pots and trying to remember the color of our spheres!

Yes, each diner will receive several long spheres on which to place pieces of meat, seafood or dessert.  The tip of each sphere is colored so a diner knows which sphere is his or hers.  After the item is placed on the sphere then the diner puts the sphere with food into the fondue pot of choice.  If there is a large group the fondue pots can get crowded but that is part of the fun.

I will look forward to reviews from folks in Riyadh when the first Melting Pot has opened there.

  2. My major concern is that all those abaya sleeves will be set on fire!!!

  3. Good point…the sleeves will certainly need to be rolled up or abayas just removed.

  4. Oooh sounds interesting, hope they open one in Jeddah soon.

  5. I love the idea of that restaurant. Please american bedu tell us the location when it will open in Riyadh.
